For the record, who's answering the interview?

MORBID FASCINATION

What is your band's name? How did you come up with that name?

MORBID FASCINATION

Our name is Morbid Fascination. I came up with it when I was probably 12 years old. There was a car accident by my parents business on the coast. I went to check it out and a employee who worked for them said I was demented by harboring a morbid fascination. It is also a lyric to the Cannibal Corpse song To Decompose. Which makes it two times as cool.

So who's in the band and what instruments do you each play?

MORBID FASCINATION

We recently parted ways with Zack who was playing drums. Jimm Herriges plays bass and does vocals. I play guitar and do vocals. We are both quasi programmers as well.
We are currently looking for a new drummer to help us up the ante. We are committed to writing new music and doing the older songs justice as well. We never really thought that they were played or recorded at their maximum potential. We are currently working on a re-release of the album Tortured Existence and recording new songs.
With today's technology you can produce quality recordings at home. The number one priority is to have drumming that is on par with the rest of the instruments and higher quality recordings.

How would you describe your sound. What makes you unique?

MORBID FASCINATION

I think Jimm and I can agree on having diversity in our music. None of the songs sound exactly the same. Which derives from our appreciation of all great bands in every subgenre of metal. We are pure die hard metal fans. That being said when your writing you have a clue of what would sound cool and different. Our sound is like the beginning scenes of Terminator 2.

What bands have influenced each of you?

MORBID FASCINATION

I can only speak for myself but, here are a few bands Jimm and I both like. Death, Cannibal Corpse, Necrophagist, Old Man's Child, Emperor, Deicide, Vital Remains, Opeth, Behemoth, Aeon, Megadeth, At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir, Dying Fetus, Hypocrisy, Immortal, Satyricon. There is so many people and bands that have influenced us its hard to nail it down. It's easier to say we like death metal, thrash, and black metal. Of course if you asked Jimm he would probably list a lot of stuff I have forgotten to mention.

How experienced are you on the stage, a virgin or whore?

MORBID FASCINATION

I have been playing in front of people for a long time. I love it. There is nothing more powerful and pure than rocking with people and getting the reaction from them that you feel when your playing. I would call myself a whore. However, we haven't accomplished all of our goals. We are taking the time to make sure we get there though and are actively pursuing our mission. Full speed ahead.

How would you describe your shows?

MORBID FASCINATION

A lot of times people get down. Sometimes not. That being said when it does happen I think people are watching us play and studying. Like all of us do. We present a very intense vibe. Musically and personally.

Tell us about your favorite show and why?

MORBID FASCINATION

My personal favorite was probably playing with Rivers Of Nihil. After the show they took the time to show us respect. It was awesome that such talented people and true professionals respect our music and deem it worthy on a professional level.

Tell us about your worst show and why?

MORBID FASCINATION

That is a tough question. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to playing music. I am also very sensitive to the vibe of people that are in the band. If someone has a negative attitude it pisses me off. I won't let it ruin my time but, it definitely makes you take a step back. Bands are a team and when problems arise you deal with it. Not complain because you did not get your way or whatever the issue maybe. Or think of playing/ practicing as a burden. If that is the case you absolutely will not last long around us. Hell is other people and repetition.

Tell Us About Your Dream Show, who you'd like to play with and where?

MORBID FASCINATION

I would kill to play at Wacken in Germany. That is my ultimate show. There are so many great bands that play it every year. I would be highly motivated and would be in awe.

Do you have a street team and how can you join?

MORBID FASCINATION

We do not currently have a street team but we are always looking to make new friends and get our music out there.

Do you have a record label and if not are you looking for one?

MORBID FASCINATION

We are currently unsigned. We have received a few offers from small labels but we hope that a new recording will open some doors for us.

What are your plans for the future, in a year, 5 years?

MORBID FASCINATION

Probably the same thing we do every day. Try and take over the world with our music. 5 years from now hopefully we will be playing at Wacken and touring/recording non stop.

Finally, do have any words on what Arm The Pit means to you?

MORBID FASCINATION

It means to me that we are all in this together. No one ever gets anywhere on their own. ATP is an outlet and resource to get your music out there and support other people. That is what metal has always meant to me. Its about a bond that the musicians and fans share. ATP is an integral part of the metal way of life and community.
