What is your band's name? How did you come up with that name?

THE KODIAX

Our bands name is The Kodiax! We wanted something simple and easy to remember, but something that also describes our ferocity for the music we make!

So who's in the band and what instruments do you each play?

THE KODIAX

In The Kodiax we are a 4-Piece band.
Kris Geiger – Vocals
Ryan Hughes – Bass
Micah Smith – Guitar
Casey Tout - Drums

How would you describe your sound. What makes you unique?

THE KODIAX

That’s a question that we’ve never had a specific answer for, if I had to attempt to personally describe our sound it would be that we play songs to embody emotions. Our songs are designed to be adventures for the listeners, we take them through a multitude of differing emotions, situations, and easily relatable subjects. If we are feeling a dark terrifying vibe we write accordingly, that’s where one of our songs entitled “Monsters” came from, and on the same principal if we’re feeling a little love lust we write songs like our song “Blue”. At times we feel, respectfully, like pioneer explorers of music who enjoy exploring differing aspects of Rock, not labeling ourselves in any way so as not to confine ourselves to such.

What bands have influenced each of you?

THE KODIAX

For me, I would for sure have to say the vocal giants influenced me. Artists such as Queen, Paul Rogers, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Chris Cornell, and Jim Croce to name a few. Our Bassist is heavily influenced by the bass driven styles of Tool and John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin, Drummer,” As a drummer, I most look up to the guy from the movie, That Thing You Do”, and our guitarists influences are Van Halen, Rush, Coheed and Cambria, Blue Oyster Cult, Incubus, and Foreigner to name a few!

How experienced are you on the stage, a virgin or whore?

THE KODIAX

We are for sure virgins, keeps us humble! We have much to learn as a young band.

How would you describe your shows?

THE KODIAX

We love trying to be larger than life on stage and very energetic! Trying to get the crowd involved emotionally and physically!

Tell us about your favorite show and why?

THE KODIAX

Our favorite show for sure was opening for Sebastian Bach at a premier venue in Louisiana! Huge crowd, great response, support from family and friends! It was a great experience that we will never forget!

Tell us about your worst show and why?

THE KODIAX

Worst show was in a New Orleans venue. One venue equipment failure after another (mic cables during songs, monitors going out, and their sound guy didn’t even show. On top of that we got stiffed our pay! Bad night!

Tell Us About Your Dream Show, who you'd like to play with and where?

THE KODIAX

My personal dream show would be with Coheed and Cambria or The Foo Fighters at Voodoo Fest in New Orleans!

Do you have a street team and how can you join?

THE KODIAX

That's a great idea! But sadly no we do not!

ATP

Do you have a record label and if not are you looking for one?

THE KODIAX

No, we are unsigned at the moment. That is a goal worth considering for sure, but right now on the cusp of our debut EP we are wanting to focus on our craft, perfect our stories, stage performance, all of it. We have a lot to offer but also a lot to learn. Well cross that bridge when we come to it.

What are your plans for the future, in a year, 5 years?

THE KODIAX

The immediate plans are to record the many songs we have at the moment, perfect them, and create an album that were extraordinarily proud of. In a year I'd like for us to still be enjoying what we do, not making compromises we can't be proud of, and that goes the same for the 5 year mark. If we stick to those tenants then our music will continue to get better and better.

Finally, do have any words on what Arm The Pit means to you?

THE KODIAX

Its amazing that little guys like us even have a chance to be heard beyond our friends and family! ATP has given us a chance to be heard and that is something we appreciate to no end!
