What is the title of your CD? How did you come up with the name?
THE KODIAX
The title of our album is 'Pick Your Place'. The name is derived from the single off the album of the same name. The meaning of the title is that in whatever situation we find ourselves, or find others, we ultimately choose our attitude and disposition. If we are in the situation where we find others is a bad disposition we can be that measure of comfort for them. If we are in that bad position, we should be grateful to those who cling to us in our darkest hour.

Is this your first CD and if not, how is this one different from the others?
THE KODIAX
Yes, this is our first album.

ATP
Did you write all the songs before going into the studio or did you write them as you were recording?
THE KODIAX
They were written before hand. They are the product of years of refinement, for some songs, and mere months for others.

Walk us thru the process of writing your music?
THE KODIAX
Wow, that’s a good question. We have several different writers in the band and some outside of the band. Each of our processes are completely different. In each of the songs though they are written in the moment, in the aura of those emotions. For some of us the process is to write a feeling, that the song as a whole lends itself to a visceral emotion. Others take a more intellectual approach to the writing process, scrutinizing every sentence.

Where did you record and why?
THE KODIAX
We recorded in Lafayette at Leap Studios. We recorded there because it's the best. The engineer there is Paul Broussard. He has an incredible amount of experience. He is also incredibly patient, which we need! Trust me!

ATP
How did you pay for your recording?
THE KODIAX
Cash and manual labor lol, not kidding. All four of us are employed full time so we chipped away at it bit by bit.

ATP
Did you have a producer or did you self-produce? If so, what kind of input did the producer have. If your self-produced, why?
THE KODIAX
Paul produced some of our songs, and the ones he didn't technically produce were still aided by his insights. As far as our other songs, where we self-produced, we had a very staunch view on how we wanted them to sound so we kept them as is.

ATP
Did you try to capture your "live sound" or did you go for something else?
THE KODIAX
Not in the traditional sense. One of the marks of good musicians is to sound just as good in studio as you do live. This is what we've tried to accomplish.

ATP
Did your record label have any input into the music you recorded?
THE KODIAX
We have no record label. Hint hint record labels. Ha!

ATP
Are you pleased with the final product?
THE KODIAX
We are very pleased with the final product. It has surpassed all of our expectations.

ATP
Where will we be able to pick up a copy?
THE KODIAX
You can pick up a copy online at any one of the national outlets! Outlets such as iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, and Spotify to name a few.

ATP
Will you be touring to promote your CD?
THE KODIAX
Like I mentioned earlier, we all have full time career jobs, and are also all married. Sorry ladies. To give you an idea of how crazy our schedules are, we have been a band since late 2013 and have only played 13 shows. We've been fortunate that the majority of those were some decent size shows, opening for Sebastian Bach, Pop Evil, Bridge to Grace, and Framing Hanley.

ATP
Would rather be recording or playing live shows?
THE KODIAX
Playing live shows, hands down. Recording is an awful process to me personally.

ATP
Anything you would like to say to your fans?
THE KODIAX
We would have to say THANK YOU for staying patient! We started playing two years ago and have JUST released some tangible music for the fans. We LOVE YOU!
